Last updated 2026-06-17. This page explains what happens to your information when you use the calculator, read a guide, or send us a message through this site. There is less to it than most privacy pages suggest.

The calculator itself sees nothing

When you pick a severity, a repair method, a home size, and type in a ZIP code, that math happens right there in your browser tab. Nothing about your selections is sent to a server or stored anywhere on our end. If you close the tab, the estimate is gone, and so is any record that you ever ran it.

What we get when you reach out

If you fill in the contact form or click through to request contractor quotes, we receive whatever you typed: your name, email address, and message, or the details a quote partner asks for. That information exists so we, or the partner you asked to hear from, can get back to you. We are not building a marketing list out of it.

Cookies, ads, and site measurement

Like most sites carrying display ads, we rely on cookies to keep the lights on. Google and its advertising partners set cookies here so ads can be shown based on sites you have visited before; if you would rather not see ads tailored that way, Google's own settings page at adssettings.google.com lets you turn that off, and aboutads.info lists the other vendors involved. We also run Google Analytics in the background to see which guides get read and which do not, using an add-on-blockable cookie rather than anything tied to your name.

Consent and your choices

Visitors from the EU, UK, or Switzerland get a cookie banner on first visit and nothing non-essential loads until you respond to it. You can change your mind later by clearing site cookies in your browser. Wherever you live, if you want to know what we hold on you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, the fastest path is our contact page; we handle these by hand since the volume is small.

Who else touches this data

We are not selling the messages you send us to a data broker or anyone else. The only outside parties who see any of it are the vendors that keep the site running: our analytics provider, our ad network, and the form service that delivers contact submissions to our inbox, each bound to use it only for that job. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as we need them to answer you and keep a basic record.

Kids

This site is written for homeowners weighing a repair bill, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

If this page changes

When we update this policy the date at the top will move. Questions about any of it land on our contact page.
